Description
Sometimes inspiration is in a cupboard! This still life started with a soft, but layered base that adds a sense of depth. There’s a dynamic play between the layers beneath and the more distinct, semi-abstracted, elements on top. There’s a dreamlike quality as the viewer fills in the blanks, recognizing elements of everyday life while embracing the abstraction. The colors blend and fade into one another, creating a harmonious backdrop for the semi-abstracted shapes. The still life aspect is subtly suggested rather than explicitly detailed. The shapes suggest the silhouette of a vase, a jar, a plate. Not overly defined and purposely a bit crooked. They are strategically placed to evoke the balance and quiet of a still life.
