Description
This painting took me a while. Which doesn’t bother me, to be honest, sometimes that is just the way it is. And in the end, it always turns out the way it should. So finally, it is done, and I am rather pleased with it. It shows an abstraction of roads, houses, and fields at the edge of a small ancient medieval Italian ‘piccolo villagio’. On the left there is a road that leads into a secret, unknow place. A little bit more to the right a road also leads into the unknow, into the light. Buildings might be recognizable, but in the meantime also confusingly formed and placed. My aim is always to the viewer getting an impression of a place to live, to move, to find surprises, to let their eyes walk into the light. The painting is named On the Road, but in the end, the interpretation is to be decided by you, your viewer’s eye. That’s the full beauty of semi-abstracted art!

Mijn schilderijen representeren veelal een landschap waarin je kunt verdwalen, waar je ruimte in kunt ontdekken. In mijn landschappen zijn herkenbare maar ook ietwat vervormde elementen te vinden. Dat geldt ook voor On the road, een werk dat ik maakte in acrylkleuren en potlood. Het is een abstracte weergave van wegen, huizen en veld aan de rand van een klein, oud dorpje. Maar de interpretatie is helemaal aan de kijker!
Het werk is beschermd met UVLS vernis. Afmeting 100 X 120 cm, acryl op canvas
