In my work often mountains, water and waterfalls appear. I totally love mountains! Most of their beauty is in the variety of shapes, light, shadows, and colour. They usually are featured with imposing heights. Their rugged terrain can create awe-inspiring landscapes that are visually stunning. Additionally, mountains often have unique geological features, such as canyons, waterfalls, and rock formations, which can further enhance their natural beauty. Standing firmly vertical, they defy the gravity of the earth and peek out from the sky. Mountains in every aspect of their uniqueness, seem completely different from this world. Someone described mountains as picturesque islands of the sky. A perfect title for this painting!In this painting I deleted most of the details, and focussed on the essential parts that define a rocky landscape. Minimalizing makes the beauty of it even more impressive.

In mijn werk komen vaak bergen, water en watervallen voor. Ik ben helemaal dol op bergen! Het grootste deel van hun schoonheid zit in de verscheidenheid aan vormen, licht, schaduwen en kleuren. Ze worden meestal gekenmerkt door imposante hoogten. Hun ruige terrein kan ontzagwekkende landschappen creëren die visueel verbluffend zijn. Bovendien hebben bergen vaak unieke geologische kenmerken, zoals watervallen, kloven, dalen en rotsformaties die de natuurlijke schoonheid verder versterken. Ze staan stevig verticaal, trotseren de zwaartekracht van de aarde. Iemand beschreef ze als pittoreske eilanden in de lucht. Een perfect passende titel voor dit schilderij!
Tijdens het schilderen heb ik de meeste details verwijderd, en me geconcentreerd op de essentiële delen die een rotsachtig landschap definiëren. Door het landschap te minimaliseren komt de schoonheid ervan nog indrukwekkender naar voren.
O ja, en vergeet niet achter die rotspartijen te kijken, daar waar het licht op je wacht!
