Blue World

While traveling through Iceland, I was blown away by the colors of the glacial lakes. They made me so happy that, when I got to my studio again, I put the white and blue paint at front. The colours in this painting are by no means a representation of Icelandic glacier colours, but came from them as a source of inspiration. This painting depicts a vast, spacious world, with a pleasantly quiet beauty in it. Actually also a world in which you can get lost, if you want, where time stands still.

Tijdens een reis door IJsland werd ik overrompeld door de hoeveelheid kleuren die te zien zijn in de gletsjermeren. Ik werd er zo blij van dat ik bij thuiskomst in mijn atelier de witte en blauwe verf vooraan zette. De kleuren in dit schilderij zijn zeker geen weergave van gletsjerkleuren, maar ze vormden een inspiratiebron. Dit schilderij verbeeldt een weidse, ruime wereld, met in de diepte een aangenaam stille schoonheid. Eigenlijk ook een wereld waarin je kunt verdwalen, als je wil, waar de tijd stilstaat.
